Session Zero was [[TTRPG/DND/Cruthea/Umbral Spark Campaign/Session Notes/2025-12-30|2025-12-30]]. ## Current Party - [[Chelo Nian]] - [[Estellene Atropos]] - [[Barnie Marsh]] - [[Tajka Walenth]] - [[Dax Davenett Derichael Daydrich the Druid IV]] - [[Pemme]] - [[Roth Ira]] - [[Bie]] ## Before Session We are in [[Port Innsmouth]] and will be meeting up at the docks. ## During Session There are a lot of skyships in the air, like that is a mundane feature, they are not a rare vessel. There are 'contraband enchantments' which suggests a high degree of regulation of magical arts It is summer. It is a Wednesday. [[Chelo Nian]] is out for a walk on the docks to get some lunch. It is a sunny and beautiful day. [[The Lofted Spirits]] is the tavern that Chelo stops at, the propietor is Key, a pale half-goliath, 6'7" Decently large tavern. This is one of the more popular taverns. [[Dock Warden Jax]], one of the higher up dock wardens, docks are divided into sectors. Jax covers the civil ward and asked to meet with [[Chelo Nian]] today. [[Port Innsmouth]] is a little bit smaller than [[Essensia]]. [[Dock Warden Jax]] is yelling about a ship going to [[Eimloc]], There are five 'umbral breaks' they are lighthouse which protect the port. One of the ships that left from [[Mohalas]] with dunein dwarfs shared a message with [[Dock Warden Jax]] about research, specifically, they may have found access to a great deal of [[Residuum]]. [[Cirumbra]] is the only net exporter of [[Residuum]]. The [[TTRPG/DND/Cruthea/Factions/Zhentarim|Zhentarim]] are interested in this supply. [[Bie]] and [[Pemme]] are here on summer break. They are on a riverboat. [[The Gilded Scale]] is the equivalent of a michelin star restaurant. [[Pemme]] has been alerted about a package with fossils and fossil records from pre-schism war that was found near some caves with giants in [[Vehendrial]]. SS Gallant is the ship that this package will be arriving on. [[Bie]] is worried about finding a place to sleep and some fish to eat. [[Bie]] and [[Pemme]] left [[The Gilded Scale]] after [[Bib!]]'s awkward introduction. [[Short John Gold's]] is a fast-casual chain in [[Port Innsmouth]] Dock workers unionizing effort is picking up steam, random people in a fast-casual chain are talking about. [[The Gilded Keel]] is a favorite place for sailors and sky-sailors and does rent beds, bit rowdy, beautiful rooms. [[The Last Anchor]], cheap lodging, not terrible, it's a best western. [[The Lofted Spirits]] also rents rooms. There is no Disneyland in [[Cirumbra]], but Seaworld and Six Flags Hurricane Harbor are all on the table. [[Dax Davenett Derichael Daydrich the Druid IV]] is here to help people. The living dockworkers are largely immigrants who hope to first become workers and then become marked. There are some who want to remain unmarked, but marked is kinda the 'Cirumbran' dream in the sense that it remains a barely achievable ideal dependent on opportunity and initial position. Dax is talking to [[Vladislav]], a living dockworker. [[Dax Davenett Derichael Daydrich the Druid IV]] is agitating (successfully thanks to a nat 20), and is told that these dockworkers tend to meet up at [[The Last Anchor]]. - [[Vladislav]] hands him a paper in his handshake - By Invite Only - to the basement of [[The Last Anchor]] - the undead do not have to be the only way, there is another, consider the gospel of [[The Golden Word]] [[Tajka Walenth]] is 'shadow-swording' which is shadow-boxing for swords, younger and still looking for mom's approval, 22ish human [[Finrod]] is who [[Tajka Walenth]] is learning swashbuckling from, he is elvish. [[Finrod]] goes to 'Prime' dock which is the dock for goods. [[Roth Ira]] wears a duster and gloves and is 31. [[Roth Ira]] is going to [[The Last Anchor]]. [[Ruvaine]] is the individual who [[Roth Ira]] is meeting with, this person is not a [[Wildsong Conclave]] member, but is friendly. [[Roth Ira]] may have been involved in a bombing, that's what he implied when he gave the gloves he was wearing to [[Ruvaine]]. [[Roth Ira]] gave stolen [[Residuum]] to [[Ruvaine]]. [[Ruvaine]] sent [[Roth Ira]] to [[Dock Warden Jax]] to learn more about where the explosives may have come from. "The seas have come calling for you" is a code-phrase that [[Ruvaine]] gave [[Roth Ira]] to use with [[Dock Warden Jax]]. [[Roth Ira]] talks to [[Dock Warden Jax]]: - [[Roth Ira]] used the code-phrase - shipment came in a week ago, unmarked, no entry on manifest, some dark elf bribed [[Dock Warden Jax]] and so he labeled it under 'Mr. Smith' and it was able to get past the [[Umbral Break]], but customs saw something weird, sent it to [[Dock Warden Jax]], who because he was bribed was willing to pass it along - 'Mr. Smith' might be 'Mrs. Smith' and was hanging out around the docks near the explosion. - they had a scar, top of their hairline, down to the right eye. - '[[Roth Ira|Mr. Era]]' is the code-name that [[Roth Ira]] gives [[Estellene Atropos]] - like Brienne of Tarth from Game of Thrones [[Estellene Atropos]] is headed to [[The Lofted Spirits]] so they have a place to stay. [[Estellene Atropos]] meets [[Kee]]. [[Kee]] gives [[Estellene Atropos]] some free stew as long as they pay for the drink. [[Estellene Atropos]] tries to tip to cover the stew, but [[Kee]] pushes the tip back. [[Kee]] recommends that [[Estellene Atropos]] check out the prime docks. [[Barnie Marsh]] is working as a rigger on the docks. [[Barnie Marsh]] mostly works on the prime dock. Senior Stevedore is [[Barnie Marsh]]'s title. Senior DIrector of the Undead for this part of the dock's is a mage, trained in necromancy [[Vladislav]] is the foreman of the group that [[Dax Davenett Derichael Daydrich the Druid IV]] talked to. Skyship coming in with emblazoned on the side: S. S. Gallant which has cleared the [[Umbral Break]]. [[Brumestone]] starts failing on the SS Gallant and it starts to speed towards the dock. Docks are suddenly thrown into chaos. Some of us notice that some people have already died and we notice an individual jump out of the SS Gallant, they're cloaked, vaguely undead, not the pristine undead of the workers, but more rotted, someone bumps into them and an object falls in front of us, wrapped in cloth, and we feel a pull towards this item Several of us now lunge for the item [[Pemme]] and [[Bie]]'s mouse grab the item. Dimension doors and teleports bring in the [[Protectorate of the Umbral Primacy]], the police force of the Umbral Primacy. They surround us. They are interrogating us. Central Commander of [[Protectorate of the Umbral Primacy]] shows up, a middle-aged woman, she signals for us to be rounded up, this specifically is [[Verrika Wheat]]. We are being sequestered at [[The Lofted Spirits]]. ## Chelo's Messages **Message to [[prescot** The SS Gallant had failure of its brumestone and catastrophically crashed into the docks, killing several.
