Last session was [[TTRPG/DND/Cruthea/Umbral Spark Campaign/Session Notes/2026-03-12|2026-03-12]] ## Current Party - [[Chelo Nian]] - [[Estellene Atropos]] - [[Barnie Marsh]] - [[Tajka Walenth]] - [[Dax Davenett Derichael Daydrich the Druid IV]] - [[Pemme]] - [[Roth Ira]] - [[Bie]] ## Before Session We have to remain in [[Port Innsmouth]] for at least one night. [[Kee]] has given us some work. ## During Session We begin at [[The Lofted Spirits]] ready to begin our mission for [[Kee]]. Several people want to go to [[The Last Anchor]] for the meeting about [[The Golden Word]]. [[Tajka Walenth]] brings up [[Anahar|Soulweaver]]. People attending [[The Golden Word]] meeting: - [[Roth Ira]] - [[Chelo Nian]] - [[Dax Davenett Derichael Daydrich the Druid IV]] - [[Tajka Walenth]] - [[Bie]] & [[Pemme]] are walking in that same general direction [[Estellene Atropos]] is sleeping [[Barnie Marsh]] is going home and sleeping. Things we learn at [[The Last Anchor]]: - [[Chelo Nian]] buys a round for the bar and then heads for the secret meeting of [[The Golden Word]] - ~15 attendees, mix of laborers, dockworkers, and maybe a few bureaucrats, plus of course some petit bourgeois intellectuals - [[Sister Aurelia]] is here and has started some proceedings - There’s an older mage here that Austin has mentioned a couple of times - I don’t trust wizards, they always are the problem - He’s carefully assessing who is here, Chelo had a bad insight, but Bennett is suspicious if this guy could be one of those mage interrrogators from our imprisonment related to [[Protectorate of the Umbral Primacy]] - Some people are quite anxious to be in attendance - [[Sister Aurelia]] called out to [[Dax Davenett Derichael Daydrich the Druid IV]] - [[Roth Ira]] IDed the older mage as part of the [[Protectorate of the Umbral Primacy]] - [[Sister Aurelia]] is using a fable for her storytelling and it is ‘coincidentally’ tailored to the audience by talking about a sailor sailing to this paradise island on his skiff but he has never made it, always problems, did not have enough provisions. The dream seems to be the only thing he will have, he may never reach paradise. When he is very near his death he sets out one more time and succeeds and dies in paradise - When did you first start feeling that this world does not make sense? - Older mage of the [[Protectorate of the Umbral Primacy]]: used to have dreams of being a great researcher, but instead could never hack it, and became a cop; he resents people who did get it (that’s an exploitable character flaw) - Sister Aurelian emphasizes not the perseverance, but the prudence in face of roadblocks - One of [[The Golden Word]] people reacted in a very slight way to the dock worker saying ‘the primacy is not lying about souls being released’ - [[Sister Aurelia]] says [[Anahar]]’s teachings say that the soul is sacred and they are concerned about the soul and she does not think it should be stored or counted or measured - [[Sister Aurelia]] is listening to a sad mom story, because her son chose to be marked, but the mother was not so sure - What’s the difference between sacrifice and commitment? - one of the nervous nellies sprints out - The other [[Anahar]] guy is quite compelling, perhaps magically so, - When a soul is divided something sacred is lost and the world feels that loss - If something brings comfort to millions, but harms something more profound is that virtue - We are deeply honored by your interest in [[The Golden Word]] - He has a very compelling aura that is just a little bit off, like a paladin aura - [[Sister Aurelia]] shows deep dedication, reverence, and awe in face of this man\ - [[Brother Milan]] is his name, not the Saint - [[Roth Ira]] approaches [[Sister Aurelia]] and [[Brother Milan]]: - “Big Boom Last Week” - [[Roth Ira]] - That’s my understanding - [[Brother Milan]] - I think that I may represent certain interests ([[Wildsong Conclave]]) that might have alignment with yours - [[Roth Ira]] - That’s good information to know as far as knowing is concerned, we certainly know nothing about big boom suffice to say the golden word is spread across [[Cirumbra]] - [[Brother Milan]] - I don’t know what rules of the cloth govern your ways, but if you need refreshments we can discuss further - [[Roth Ira]] - We are a bit nontraditional - [[Brother Milan]] The password for the building four doors over is ‘if the boat is rocking don’t come a knocking’ - [[Mouse]] [[Kee]] is going to tell us his mission: - Find out what you can about what was on the SS Gallant - He has a backpack, which is a bag of holdings, pulls out: - Parchment that is a blueprint of a warehouse, Warehouse-Customs Facility 1A - Recentagular - Two major entrances - Major loading area for dryland - Major water loading area - Tomorrow night, [[Kee]] will be scouting ahead of time - Items from the SS Gallant are likely being stored here - 9,000 gp pay if we succeed, but with conditions: - Delivery of manifest or copy thereof - Cargo manifest and passenger manifesto - [[Roth Ira]] asks who we are working for, [[Kee]] does not give that up - [[Kee]] gave us two potions of partial invisibility for each of us (last 10 minutes) - Also provides two spell scrolls: - Knock - Dispel Magic [[Roth Ira]] letter from [[Rue]]: - [[Protectorate of the Umbral Primacy]] is moving forces towards factories in the Northwest ## Chelo's Messages ### To [[Branko Koche]] (will use Illusory Script to Write and Send this back at the office) #### Strategy for Counter-propaganda targeting [[The Golden Word]]: - The Golden Word attempts to undercut the efforts to establish a better and more just society here on [[Cruthea]] by emphasizing their false belief that the benefits that accrue to [[Cirumbra]] are at the expense of eternal paradise. - [[The Golden Word]] intends to use dissatisfaction of laborers to more broadly undermine the society of [[Cirumbra]] - Organization is reticent to open about its recruiting and its training, suggests to me that they are operating a decentralized underground alongside more traditional temple hierarchies - [[Sister Aurelia]] has emphasized in a sermon the value of maintaining your faith in an eventual paradise, even as you suffer endlessly in trying to reach it. - Counter-programming may need to emphasize the suffering of desire, the pain of the characters in the fables shared by [[Sister Aurelia]] come in large part not from the lack of paradise, but from the lack of fulfillment of the DESIRE for paradise - Should also emphasize that this is the life in which we know the soul can enjoy the fundamentally human experience, and so this is the portion of our soul's existence that is most important - Would also like to add: relatively small and highly publicized increases in wages and benefits for unmarked workers may quickly diffuse discontent Humbly, Chelo Nian Esq.
