Perhaps the single most mysterious structure on Bral, this was an abandoned warehouse until 11 years ago, when the Mercane decided to establish a permanent presence in Bral. Working through middlemen and agents, the Arcane purchased the building from the Crown for an exorbitant sum and proceeded to completely remodel it. An elite force of skilled and loyal mercenaries guard the building, posting sentries on each wall and on the roof, but even they have never been inside. Somehow, the Mercane make major helms, or receive them from smuggled cargo, because this is where purchasers are taken when the new helm is carried out. There is some speculation that a gate or an extradimensional doorway is hidden inside the warehouse, and that the Mercane homelands lie beyond—no one knows for sure
[Mercanes](https://www.dndbeyond.com/monsters/2821181-mercane) recently established a presence on the Rock by taking over an unmarked, inconspicuous building near [[the Lesser Market]]. The place is occupied by a small staff of agents who act as an intermediary between the mercanes and those who want to do business with them. Such business typically involves the purchase of [spelljamming helms](https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/5439867-spelljamming-helm) and other magic items.
The mercanes don’t advertise their involvement with the facility, nor do they visit the agency very often. When they do, it’s usually to conduct business with a particularly wealthy or influential client.
In general, they meet with a prospective buyer, agree on a price and take an order. Anywhere from a day to a month or more may pass, and then the buyer will be advised that his purchase has arrived at the warehouse. The Mercanes warehouse is extremely well guarded, but on one occasion a skilled burglar broke in only to find it entirely empty. The thief mysteriously vanished, but not before he had a chance to tell his tale to a few people, enhancing the legend.
