# Wyepool Wyepool is a largely ungovernable city that sits at the intersection of several empires on the continent of Eorwild. While technically under the dominion of the Hafnian empire that claim is enforced weakly as it useful as a relatively neutral ground for diplomacy. While there is a small contingent of Hafnian crowsnguard who are nominally meant to keep order that role primarily falls to various organized crime elements in the city. The city geography is dominated by the incredibly clean spring fed pool in the center of the city. Other than that the city is divided into 4 quarters, each originally belonging to one of the distinct empires, though over the intervening decades the lines have blurred, though each neighborhood does maintain their own tavern/inn and the town square is a fantastic center for revelry on an almost nightly basis, and especially on any Orcish, Elvish, Dwarvish, or Hafnian festival day (that's a lot of festivals). ## Locations ### Taverns #### [[The Gentle Repose|DND.zhentarim_premier.locations.wyepool.the_gentle_repose]] - The Gentle Repose is the elivsh tavern/inn and is by far the nicest in Wyepool. The Hafnian 'nobility' who live in Wyepool and the various elvish ambassadors and leaders are likely to come here if they need a tavern. #### [[The Keen King|DND.zhentarim_premier.locations.wyepool.the_keen_king]] - The Keen King is the human tavern/inn and is nicer than the orcish tavern at least. While it is a Hafnian tavern you will find travelers, traders, workers, and many from the town staying here for a night, for a drink, for a companion. #### [[Groomsh's Favor|DND.zhentarim_premier.locations.wyepool.groomshs_favor.md]] - Groomsh's Favor predictably is the orcish tavern and flophouse and is noted for the planned drinking competitions and fisticuffs nightly. It is regularly full of sale-swords, exiles, drunkards, and those with nowhere else to be. #### [[The Stone Tankard]] - The Stone Tankard is the beautifully constructed dwarven tavern and inn in Wyepool. A place of great revelry and of stories that inspire wonder, all tinged with a deep sadness, full of dwarves who dream of when they can finally return home, or live the ignominous truth of being unable to return. ### Stores #### Walter's Goods - Walter's goods is a general store right off the town square that sells simple sundries along side basic adventuring gear. #### [[Lotta's Stationery and Crafts]] - A craft and stationary store. #### [[Alistrae's Arcanum]] - This magic shop in the elven quarter is small, fastidiously neat, and carefully organized. - Alistrae is an older elf who's eyes seem more focused on Sedarine than on you - Her voice is musical and unhurried - Many of her items come from the [[TTRPG/DND/Terravial/Factions/Zhentarim|Zhentarim]] and she depends on them - Does not have very many fancy items - Carries a couple health potions - Example items: - +1 ammunition - Alchemy jug - Bag of holding - Boots of elvenkind - Cloak of elvenkind #### Yussa's Alchemical Wares #### Lotor's Curios - Lotor is an eccentric, ambitious old gnome. He makes and sells a variety of strange items, both mechanical and magical. An expert craftsman with ideas that outpace his ability he is also available for - The store is noisy with various mechanisms interacting, and the occasional grating or grinding sound as something goes wrong - Depends on access to questionably legal compounds provided by the [[TTRPG/DND/Terravial/Factions/Zhentarim|Zhentarim]] - Example items available: - An apparatus of Kwalish - An auto-injection healing system - When you drop to zero hit points roll a d20. If you roll a 3 or above then a basic healing potion is injected into you. If you roll a 2 then nothing happens. If you roll a 1 then you fail a death saving throw automatically as the needle fruitlessly stabs you. - A repeating crossbow - Up to 12 crossbow bolts are held in a mechanism above and are automatically dropped in. - Crossbow no longer has loading feature - When all 12 shots are fired requires an action to reload - On a critical hit a second arrow goes off, add an additional damage die (not doubled) - On a critical miss the mechanism jams and requires an entire action to unjam - To unjam roll a Dexterity (Sleight of Hand) check, DC 10 to successfully unjam it - Poison dagger - Dagger holds a vial of any poison in the hilt. - On a turn where you hit with the weapon, you can use your bonus action to drain the vial into the creature you hit - Note, this does not work if the dagger was thrown - Also sells simple magical enchanted curiosities #### Anis' Gems' - Elven quarter, fine gems #### Kilmin's Metalworks - Dwarven district #### Hofgar's Armor and Weaponry - Hofgar is a thickly muscled dwarven blacksmith - He is not the most amiable fellow, preferring his focus to be on his work, with a hint of impatience for you keeping him from that - Sells specially crafted 'fine' weapons which act as +1 but contain no magical enchantment ### Other #### Wyepool Library and Academy - A small academy with an impressive library, staffed mostly by second right sages, or those who's research was not accepted in the more metropolitan areas. - Provides training in magic, alchemy, and other skills for a cost - Technically a satellite of the much larger [[Hafnian Academy]], but often works relatively independently ## Factions ### [[TTRPG/DND/Terravial/Factions/Zhentarim|Zhentarim]] - The [[TTRPG/DND/Terravial/Factions/Zhentarim|Zhentarim]] are who the PC's work for ### True Knights of [[Hafnia]] - A mostly disorganized militia interested in deposing the king of [[Hafnia]] (mostly in an abstract sense.) ### [[Shadows]] - Thieves guild who also do contract work in the 'shady' areas. - Help with [[TTRPG/DND/Terravial/Factions/Zhentarim|Zhentarim]] smuggling. - Joane, contact of [[Vesta]], relatively low level. - Joane: Female Human Rogue, NG. Str 13, Dex 15, Con 12, Int 13, Wis 9, Cha 8. Joane has a long face, with gray hair and soft blue eyes. She wears studded leather and wields a rapier and hand crossbow. Joane has an animal companion, a sable ferret named Abell. ### [[War Riders]] - Orcish mercenaries ### Wyepool Library and Academy - A group of sages who are willing to train you in a variety of skills ## People ### [[Elenaril Wynarus]] - [[Elenaril Wynarus]] is the high-elvish ambassador who has recently had a daughter - This daughter was abducted by the members of Zhentarim Premier and delivered to [[Auntie Matilda Mudwallow]] the local hag - There was some evidence that orcs were behind this ### Rode Family - Occupies the manor of the deceased Yellowcrest family ### [[Leopold Cras]] - Leopold is the governor of Wyepool
